Silicon metal, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, Silicon Metal is a product made by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace, with a main component silicon element content of about 98% (in recent years, 99.99% Si content is also included in metal silicon), and other impurities include iron, aluminum, calcium, and so on.

What is Silicon Metal 553 Grade?

Silicon metal 553 is a commonly used grade. In the metal silicon 553, the silicon content should be as high as 98.5%. The contents of iron(Fe), aluminum(Al), and calcium(Ca) are 0.5%, 0.5%, and 0.3% respectively.Silicon 553 and silicon 441 are mainly used in the production of aluminum ingots.Adding silicon metal to aluminium alloys makes them strong and light.
